While in Florence, Italy in March 2026, Thomas de Vries of Sommelier's Choices treated us to a bucket-list experience while exploring the Chianti region of Tuscany. Our day began at Principe Corsini a historic, legendary Tuscan wine estate in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, producing organic Chianti Classico and olive oil since 1363.

 

Back home in my studio, I was haunted by the experience of standing in a nature bath on land with so many stories within its bones. I longed for more sensory experiences of silky olive oils, velvety chianti, crusty bread, creamy cheeses, and pungent herbs.

 

For you, I wanted to paint the experience of this place. I just wish I could pour you a nice Chianti for you to enjoy while you view it.
