What Have We Forgotten?

“Have We Forgotten?” won the Sponsor's Award in a North Carolina art competition and was sold the evening of the opening reception.

When driving home one day, I saw an old, weathered, dilapidated sled was leaning against a tree by a forest. It haunted me…reminding me of when there actually was snow….a simpler time before video games, over scheduled childhoods, social media and modern day drama. It felt like a quiet homage to abandoned innocence.

I created this work to remind us all to remember, to wonder, to find moments of awe, to laugh and to connect with unfettered joy.
